West Coast Swing - St Kilda

Beginner's Class

2 hr
25 Australian dollars
Thurs WCS @ St Kilda

Class Description

West Coast Swing is a modern take on a version of Swing that is danced to current music you hear played on the radio and in the clubs. It is an educated lead and follow that is a conversation between the lead and follow, and which is danced "on the slot". West Coast Swing can even incorporate other dance styles and moves, and both leaders and followers have more ability to express themselves in different ways than in most other dances. Hip Hop, Latin, Tango and many other styles of dance can influence West Coast Swing movement. These classes are for dancers who are new to dancing or at a beginner level. Our focus will be on learning the basic steps, variations on theose steps, and how to elevate the basics to make your dancing look and feel amazing! Everyone is welcome to attend! We support degendering in dance, so you can dance whichever role you choose: Lead or Follow. Across Australia and the world, dance scenes are embracing that first and foremost we are ALL just dancers... enjoying social interactions and our love of music interpretated through movement. Dancers are also embracing that knowing BOTH sides of any partner dance, makes your dancing better! THESE CLASSES WILL TAKE PLACE EVERY THURSDAY ABOVE AFRICAN DRUMMING ST KILDA RD As classes gain momentum we have the opportunity to extend our hall time to include social dancing after classes as well! We can also add a second class with a different focus or level as numbers build. PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Situated on the 3 and 67 Tram Lines Between Stops at Argyle St and Inkerman St LENGTH OF GROUP CLASSES: 90 Mins + 30 Mins Social Dance
