​THESE CLASSES WILL TAKE PLACE EVERY TUESDAY AT: WESTGATE BAPTIST COMMUNITY HALL, 16 HIGH ST YARRAVILLE West Coast Swing is a modern take on a version of Swing that is danced to current music you hear played on the radio and in the clubs. It is an educated lead and follow that is a conversation between the lead and follow, and which is danced "on the slot". West Coast Swing can even incorporate other dance styles and moves, and both leaders and followers have more ability to express themselves in different ways than in most other dances. Hip Hop, Latin, Tango and many other styles of dance can influence West Coast Swing movement. Our focus will be on learning the basic steps, variations on those steps, and how to elevate the basics to make your dancing look and feel amazing! ​As classes gain momentum we have the opportunity to extend our hall time! ​PUBLIC TRANSPORT: 10 mins walk from Yarraville Train Station ​LENGTH OF GROUP CLASSES: 60 Mins 7pm - LEVEL 1 Perfect for new dancers, or dancers wishing to cement their basics and techniques. We go over the 4 basic steps of WCS: Left Side Pass, Right Side Underarm Pass, Push Break and Whip. 8pm - LEVEL 2 You need to be comfortable with the Steps and Techniques from Level 1. We take our dancing up a notch and learn how to start moving our groove in our own unique way, and find our own individual flavour. Steps are variations and extensions of basics, and get us exploring dance possibilities and conversations. We support degendering in dance, so you can dance whichever role you choose: Lead or Follow.
